Different rent measures answer different questions. We show which evidence supports a number, when it was observed and what it can tell you.

01
Official rent history

13 Statistics Canada series, covering Calgary, Edmonton, Alberta and Canada. Occupied-space rents; 2019 = 100.

02
Published market context

Dated report quotes, with publisher-defined geography, class coverage and weighting preserved.

03
Original local observations

A research workflow is implemented. Benchmarks and movement measures remain withheld until reviewed evidence meets publication gates.

Coverage describes original asking-rent research. It does not replace official-series or report coverage.

A Canadian platform, starting locally.

Alberta and Canada official series add broader context. Calgary and Edmonton are the local research pilots. Two-city asking-rent research will never be labeled a national estimate.

What is published today

The Canadian edition provides 5,400 official historical observations across 60 series and 27 geographies. Four separately attributed publisher report readings remain contextual evidence with their own market definitions and periods. No independent asking-rent distribution is published.

Calgary and Edmonton remain the original asking-research pilots. Official geographic expansion does not imply an equivalent expansion of our own listing sample or private source rights.

From candidate to reviewed release

Collect a dated source record, preserve its original quote, normalize only explicit units, resolve the premises identity, check reuse rights and review comparable terms. A release then applies stale-data, overlap, sample-size and concentration rules.

A failed source retrieval is an operational issue. It does not create a vacancy, disappearance, completed-lease or rent-change event. Public snapshots remain available while a source change awaits analyst review.

A connected commercial platform

CommercialData is the intended canonical property and evidence layer. This rent extension preserves dated observations and publication rules without duplicating its property graph. Commercially is the destination for brokerage requirements and advisor-led action.

Research pages distinguish measured evidence, publisher-defined context and editorial comparison frameworks. Users should be able to see which lens they are reading before interpreting a number.
